Narasimha Aarti - Complete जय नरसिंह देव Lyrics in Hindi & English
Introduction to Narasimha Aarti
The Narasimha Aarti is a powerful devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Narasimha, the half-man half-lion avatar of Lord Vishnu. This fierce yet protective form of the divine is worshipped for overcoming obstacles, defeating enemies, and protecting devotees from evil.
Lord Narasimha appeared to protect his devotee Prahlad and slay the demon king Hiranyakashipu, who had obtained a boon that made him virtually invincible. Narasimha's appearance demonstrated that no power can stand against the Lord when He protects His devotees.
The Narasimha avatar represents the divine truth that God will always protect the righteous and destroy evil, regardless of how powerful or clever the adversary may be.
The Story of Prahlad and Narasimha
Hiranyakashipu's Boon
The demon king Hiranyakashipu performed severe penance to Lord Brahma and obtained a boon: he could not be killed by man or beast, inside or outside, during day or night, on earth or in the sky, by any weapon.
Prahlad's Devotion
Despite being the son of Hiranyakashipu, Prahlad was a devoted worshipper of Lord Vishnu from birth. No matter how many times his father tried to kill him, Prahlad's devotion protected him.
The Divine Appearance
When Hiranyakashipu mockingly asked if Vishnu was present in a pillar, Lord Narasimha burst forth - neither man nor beast (half-man, half-lion). At twilight (neither day nor night), on the threshold (neither inside nor outside), placing Hiranyakashipu on his lap (neither earth nor sky), he slayed him with his claws (no weapon).
