हिंदी: एक बार ब्रह्मा जी ने भगवान विष्णु से पूछा, "हे प्रभु! फाल्गुन महीने के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी का क्या माहात्म्य है? इस एकादशी के व्रत से कौन से फल मिलते हैं?" भगवान विष्णु ने कहा, "हे ब्रह्मा! यह एकादशी आमलकी एकादशी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। इस दिन आमलकी वृक्ष की पूजा करने से अनंत पुण्य प्राप्त होता है।"

English: Once Lord Brahma asked Lord Vishnu, "O Lord! What is the significance of the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in Phalgun month? What fruits are obtained from observing this Ekadashi fast?" Lord Vishnu said, "O Brahma! This Ekadashi is famous as Amalaki Ekadashi. By worshipping the Amalaki tree on this day, infinite merit is obtained."

हिंदी: भगवान विष्णु ने आगे कहा, "आमलकी वृक्ष मेरा स्वरूप है। इस वृक्ष में सभी देवता निवास करते हैं। इसकी जड़ में ब्रह्मा, तने में विष्णु, शाखाओं में शिव, पत्तियों में सभी ऋषि-मुनि, और फलों में सभी तीर्थ स्थित हैं। जो व्यक्ति इस वृक्ष की पूजा करता है, उसे सभी देवताओं और तीर्थों की पूजा का फल प्राप्त होता है।"

English: Lord Vishnu further said, "The Amalaki tree is my form. All deities reside in this tree. In its roots is Brahma, in the trunk is Vishnu, in the branches is Shiva, in the leaves are all sages, and in the fruits are all pilgrimage places. The person who worships this tree receives the fruit of worshipping all deities and pilgrimage places."

हिंदी: प्राचीन काल में चैत्र राज नामक एक राजा था। वह अत्यंत धर्मात्मा और भगवद्भक्त था। एक बार उसने आमलकी एकादशी का व्रत रखा और विधिपूर्वक आमलकी वृक्ष की पूजा की। उस रात्रि में राजा ने आमलकी वृक्ष के नीचे जागरण किया। व्रत के प्रभाव से उसे दिव्य दृष्टि प्राप्त हुई और वह भगवान विष्णु के साक्षात दर्शन पा सका।

English: In ancient times, there was a king named Chaitra. He was extremely righteous and devoted to God. Once he observed Amalaki Ekadashi fast and properly worshipped the Amalaki tree. That night the king kept vigil under the Amalaki tree. Due to the effect of the fast, he received divine vision and was able to have direct darshan of Lord Vishnu.

हिंदी: भगवान विष्णु ने राजा चैत्र को दर्शन देते हुए कहा, "हे राजन्! तुमने आमलकी एकादशी का व्रत रखकर और मेरे प्रिय वृक्ष की पूजा करके मुझे अत्यंत प्रसन्न किया है। मैं तुम्हें वरदान देता हूं कि तुम्हारे राज्य में सदैव शांति, समृद्धि और स्वास्थ्य रहेगा। तुम्हारी प्रजा सुखी रहेगी और तुम मोक्ष प्राप्त करोगे।"

English: Lord Vishnu, giving darshan to King Chaitra, said, "O King! By observing Amalaki Ekadashi fast and worshipping my beloved tree, you have pleased me greatly. I give you the boon that there will always be peace, prosperity, and health in your kingdom. Your subjects will remain happy and you will attain liberation."

हिंदी: भगवान विष्णु ने ब्रह्मा जी से कहा, "जो व्यक्ति आमलकी एकादशी का व्रत रखता है और श्रद्धापूर्वक आमलकी वृक्ष की पूजा करता है, उसके सभी पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं। उसे स्वास्थ्य, धन, सुख और मोक्ष प्राप्त होता है। यह व्रत विशेष रूप से स्वास्थ्य और दीर्घायु प्रदान करता है क्योंकि आमलकी फल स्वयं अमृत के समान है।"

English: Lord Vishnu told Lord Brahma, "The person who observes Amalaki Ekadashi fast and devotedly worships the Amalaki tree, all their sins are destroyed. They receive health, wealth, happiness, and liberation. This fast especially grants health and longevity because the Amalaki fruit itself is like nectar."
