हिंदी: एक बार युधिष्ठिर ने भगवान श्रीकृष्ण से पूछा, "हे केशव! भाद्रपद महीने के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी का क्या नाम है और इसकी क्या महिमा है?" भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने उत्तर दिया, "हे राजन्! यह इंदिरा एकादशी है। यह बंधन मुक्ति और आध्यात्मिक स्वतंत्रता प्रदान करने वाली सर्वोत्तम एकादशी है।"

English: Once Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna, "O Keshava! What is the name of the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month and what is its glory?" Lord Krishna replied, "O King! This is Indira Ekadashi. This is the supreme Ekadashi that grants liberation from bondage and spiritual freedom."

हिंदी: भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा, "हे युधिष्ठिर! इस एकादशी को मुक्ति एकादशी भी कहते हैं। यह व्रत करने से व्यक्ति सभी बंधनों से मुक्त हो जाता है। यह पितृ मोक्ष, कर्म मुक्ति, और आध्यात्मिक स्वतंत्रता प्रदान करती है। जो व्यक्ति इस दिन व्रत रखता है, वह जीवन-मृत्यु के चक्र से मुक्त हो जाता है।"

English: Lord Krishna said, "O Yudhishthira! This Ekadashi is also called Mukti Ekadashi. By observing this fast, a person becomes free from all bondages. It grants pitru moksha, karma liberation, and spiritual freedom. The person who observes this fast becomes free from the cycle of life and death."

हिंदी: प्राचीन काल में इंद्रसेन नामक एक धर्मात्मा राजा था। उसके पिता महाराजा इंद्रदत्त की मृत्यु के बाद, राजा इंद्रसेन को दिव्य दृष्टि से पता चला कि उसके पिता नरक में कष्ट भोग रहे हैं। इससे राजा बहुत दुखी हुआ और उसने ऋषि-मुनियों से पिता की मुक्ति का उपाय पूछा।

English: In ancient times, there was a righteous king named Indrasena. After the death of his father Maharaja Indradatta, King Indrasena learned through divine vision that his father was suffering in hell. The king became very sad and asked sages for a way to liberate his father.

हिंदी: ऋषियों ने राजा इंद्रसेन से कहा, "हे राजन्! तुम्हारे पिता को मुक्ति दिलाने के लिए इंदिरा एकादशी का व्रत करो। यह व्रत मृत आत्माओं को भी मुक्ति दिलाता है। इस दिन व्रत रखकर और भगवान विष्णु की पूजा करके तुम अपने पिता को नरक से मुक्त करा सकते हो।"

English: The sages told King Indrasena, "O King! To liberate your father, observe Indira Ekadashi fast. This fast liberates even departed souls. By fasting on this day and worshipping Lord Vishnu, you can free your father from hell."

हिंदी: राजा इंद्रसेन ने पूर्ण श्रद्धा और भक्ति के साथ इंदिरा एकादशी का व्रत रखा। उसने सारी रात जागरण किया और भगवान विष्णु की स्तुति की। व्रत के प्रभाव से उसके पिता को तुरंत नरक से मुक्ति मिल गई और वे विष्णुलोक को प्राप्त हुए। राजा ने दिव्य दृष्टि से देखा कि उसके पिता दिव्य रूप में प्रकट होकर उसे आशीर्वाद दे रहे हैं।

English: King Indrasena observed Indira Ekadashi fast with complete faith and devotion. He kept vigil all night and praised Lord Vishnu. Due to the effect of the fast, his father was immediately liberated from hell and attained Vaikunthaloka. The king saw through divine vision that his father appeared in divine form and was blessing him.

हिंदी: पिता ने राजा इंद्रसेन से कहा, "हे पुत्र! तुमने इंदिरा एकादशी का व्रत रखकर मुझे नरक की यातनाओं से मुक्त कराया है। यह व्रत न केवल मृत आत्माओं को मुक्ति देता है बल्कि जीवित व्यक्ति को भी सभी बंधनों से मुक्त करता है। तुम्हारा कल्याण हो।" इस प्रकार इंदिरा एकादशी की महिमा से राजा को अपने पिता की मुक्ति का सुख प्राप्त हुआ।

English: The father told King Indrasena, "O son! By observing Indira Ekadashi fast, you have freed me from the torments of hell. This fast not only liberates departed souls but also frees the living person from all bondages. May you prosper." Thus, through the glory of Indira Ekadashi, the king received the joy of his father's liberation.
