प्राचीन कथा | Ancient Story
हिंदी: प्राचीन काल में मुचुकुंद नामक एक राजा था। वह बहुत धर्मात्मा और प्रजावत्सल था। एक बार उसके राज्य में भयानक अकाल पड़ा। प्रजा भूख से व्याकुल हो गई। राजा ने सभी उपाय किए परंतु अकाल समाप्त नहीं हुआ। तब राजा ने महर्षि अंगिरा से सलाह ली।
English: In ancient times, there was a king named Muchukunda. He was very righteous and caring towards his subjects. Once, a terrible famine struck his kingdom. The people became distressed from hunger. The king tried all measures but the famine did not end. Then the king sought advice from Maharishi Angira.
महर्षि का उपदेश | Sage's Teaching
हिंदी: महर्षि अंगिरा ने राजा से कहा, "हे राजन्! आपके पूर्वजन्म में किए गए पापों के कारण यह अकाल आया है। इससे मुक्ति के लिए आपको कार्तिक मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी का व्रत करना होगा। इस एकादशी का नाम रामा एकादशी है। यह भगवान राम को अत्यंत प्रिय है।"
English: Sage Angira told the king, "O King! This famine has come due to sins committed in your previous births. For liberation from this, you must observe the Ekadashi fast of Krishna Paksha in Kartik month. This Ekadashi is called Rama Ekadashi. It is extremely dear to Lord Rama."
एकादशी व्रत का प्रभाव | Effect of Ekadashi Fast
हिंदी: राजा मुचुकुंद ने पूर्ण श्रद्धा से रामा एकादशी का व्रत रखा। उन्होंने भगवान राम की आराधना की और प्रजा के कल्याण की प्रार्थना की। व्रत के प्रभाव से आकाश में बादल छा गए और मूसलाधार वर्षा हुई। अकाल समाप्त हो गया और राज्य में फिर से खुशहाली आ गई।
English: King Muchukunda observed Rama Ekadashi fast with complete devotion. He worshipped Lord Rama and prayed for the welfare of his subjects. Due to the effect of the fast, clouds gathered in the sky and torrential rain occurred. The famine ended and prosperity returned to the kingdom.

हिंदी: इस घटना के बाद राजा मुचुकुंद ने समझा कि धर्म की शक्ति अपार है। उन्होंने अपने राज्य में धर्म और न्याय की स्थापना की। प्रजा सुखी और संपन्न हो गई। राजा ने प्रतिवर्ष रामा एकादशी का व्रत रखा और भगवान राम के आदर्शों पर चलकर आदर्श राज्य का निर्माण किया।
English: After this incident, King Muchukunda understood that the power of dharma is immense. He established righteousness and justice in his kingdom. The subjects became happy and prosperous. The king observed Rama Ekadashi fast every year and created an ideal kingdom by following the ideals of Lord Rama.
