ब्राह्मण की गरीबी | Brahmin's Poverty
हिंदी: प्राचीन काल में चम्पावती नगरी में लुम्पक नामक एक ब्राह्मण रहता था। वह अत्यंत गरीब था और अपने परिवार का पेट पालने के लिए संघर्ष कर रहा था। उसकी पत्नी और बच्चे भूख से व्याकुल रहते थे। लुम्पक ने धर्म के नाम पर कई उपाय किए परंतु उसकी गरीबी दूर नहीं हुई। वह बहुत परेशान था और दुःखी मन से सोचता रहता था।
English: In ancient times, in the city of Champavati, there lived a Brahmin named Lumpak. He was extremely poor and struggling to feed his family. His wife and children remained distressed from hunger. Lumpak tried many means in the name of dharma but his poverty did not end. He was very troubled and kept thinking with a sorrowful mind.
महात्मा से मिलना | Meeting the Saint
हिंदी: एक दिन लुम्पक जंगल में जाकर एक महात्मा से मिला। महात्मा ने उसकी दुर्दशा देखकर पूछा, "हे ब्राह्मण! तुम इतने दुःखी क्यों हो?" लुम्पक ने अपनी सारी कथा सुनाई। महात्मा ने कहा, "तुम्हारे पूर्व जन्म के पापों के कारण यह दुर्दशा है। इससे मुक्ति के लिए तुम्हें पौष महीने के कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी का व्रत करना चाहिए।"
English: One day Lumpak went to the forest and met a saint. Seeing his miserable condition, the saint asked, "O Brahmin! Why are you so sorrowful?" Lumpak narrated his entire story. The saint said, "This misery is due to sins of your previous births. For liberation from this, you should observe the Ekadashi fast of Krishna Paksha in Paush month."
सफला एकादशी व्रत | Safala Ekadashi Fast
हिंदी: महात्मा ने आगे कहा, "इस एकादशी का नाम सफला एकादशी है। यह सभी मनोकामनाओं को पूर्ण करने वाली है। जो व्यक्ति इस दिन उपवास रखता है और भगवान विष्णु की पूजा करता है, उसके सभी कार्य सफल हो जाते हैं।" लुम्पक ने महात्मा के वचनों को सुनकर पूर्ण श्रद्धा से सफला एकादशी का व्रत रखने का निश्चय किया।
English: The saint further said, "This Ekadashi is called Safala Ekadashi. It fulfills all desires. The person who observes fast on this day and worships Lord Vishnu, all their endeavors become successful." Hearing the saint's words, Lumpak decided to observe Safala Ekadashi fast with complete devotion.
व्रत का फल | Result of the Fast
हिंदी: लुम्पक ने पूर्ण विधि-विधान से सफला एकादशी का व्रत रखा। उसने भगवान विष्णु की पूजा की और अपनी गरीबी दूर होने की प्रार्थना की। व्रत के प्रभाव से उसके जीवन में चमत्कारिक परिवर्तन आया। कुछ ही दिनों में उसे एक बड़े राजा की सेवा का अवसर मिला। राजा ने उसकी विद्वता से प्रभावित होकर उसे अपना राज्य गुरु बना दिया।
English: Lumpak observed Safala Ekadashi fast with complete rituals. He worshipped Lord Vishnu and prayed for removal of his poverty. Due to the effect of the fast, miraculous changes came in his life. Within a few days, he got an opportunity to serve a great king. The king, impressed by his scholarship, made him the royal guru.
