एक समय भगवान श्रीकृष्ण और युधिष्ठिर में वार्तालाप हो रहा था। युधिष्ठिर ने पूछा, "हे प्रभु! श्रावण मास की कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी की महिमा क्या है?"
भगवान कृष्ण ने कहा, "हे राजन! इस एकादशी का नाम 'कामिका एकादशी' है। यह सभी मनोकामनाओं को पूर्ण करने वाली है।"
"प्राचीन काल में एक राजा था जिसका नाम लैला था। वह बहुत धर्मात्मा था लेकिन उसके राज्य में अकाल पड़ गया था। प्रजा दुखी थी।"
राजा ने ऋषि-मुनियों से सलाह ली। उन्होंने कहा, "हे राजन! श्रावण मास की कृष्ण एकादशी का व्रत करो। यह कामिका एकादशी कहलाती है।"
"इस व्रत के प्रभाव से आपकी सभी समस्याएं दूर हो जाएंगी और राज्य में खुशहाली आएगी।"
राजा ने पूर्ण श्रद्धा से कामिका एकादशी का व्रत किया। उसने रात भर जागरण किया और भगवान विष्णु की आराधना की।
व्रत के प्रभाव से राज्य में वर्षा हुई, अकाल समाप्त हुआ, और सब तरफ खुशहाली छा गई। तब से यह एकादशी सभी इच्छाओं को पूरा करने वाली मानी जाती है।
English Translation
Once Lord Krishna and Yudhishthira were having a conversation. Yudhishthira asked, "O Lord! What is the glory of the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha in Shravana month?"
Lord Krishna said, "O King! This Ekadashi is called 'Kamika Ekadashi'. It fulfills all desires and wishes."
"In ancient times, there was a king named Laila. He was very righteous, but his kingdom was struck by drought. The people were suffering."
The king consulted with sages. They said, "O King! Observe the Krishna Ekadashi fast of Shravana month. It is called Kamika Ekadashi."
"Due to the power of this fast, all your problems will be solved and prosperity will come to the kingdom."
The king observed Kamika Ekadashi fast with complete devotion. He stayed awake all night and worshipped Lord Vishnu.
Due to the power of the fast, it rained in the kingdom, the drought ended, and prosperity spread everywhere. Since then, this Ekadashi is considered to fulfill all wishes.
